Pixie Iwata is a student photo journalist who has been working for the Cypress Chronicle since January 2022. She is currently the co-Editor-in-Chief of the paper, alongside Cristian Sandoval. She’s created and redesigned the paper since she’s been the editor in September 2022. She is one of the head social media managers and photographers for the Griffith Observatory, as well as a photographer for the polynesian dance group, Nonosina.
Pixie is fueled by her passion for photography and art. Her work talks about difficult topics such as sexual abuse and racism. Whether it’s based around her own experiences or not, Pixie wants the world to be able to see what we don’t always see in mainstream media.
On the side, she photographs her travels and love for architecture. Pixie also creates alternative works based around social justice issues and her personal trauma. Her work has been up at the RBar in Long Beach, and has had a gallery at Cypress College for Not Your Model Minority.
Pixie has her AA in Photography from Cypress College and is working to get her BA in Journalism.
